Special Broadcast from Occupy Melbourne

Today at 6.30pm AEDT we’ll be broadcasting a special episode of The Agenda live and on location from Occupy Melbourne at Melbourne Town Square.

Join Greg and Alex as they probe and prod the occupiers for why they’re occupying Melbourne Town Square, especially the big question – why not occupy Treasury Gardens, a much nicer and more pleasant place to occupy.

It’s going to be a huge show!

So join the rant and vent your spleen with us live today at 6.30pm AEDT.

A very special make up show

Greg and Alex will be hosting a very special show. The usual “The Agenda” will not have nearly as many items; and we’ve put aside standing orders to ensure that there’s only one item on “The Agenda”.

What’s so special about this show? Why would you bother listening?

Simple!

They’ll be doing “The Agenda” just before the Victorian Indigenous Performing Arts Awards (VIPA’s or VIPA Awards). There’s a good chance they’ll get to chat with some of Victoria’s deadly stars before they walk the red carpet.

It’ll be a short show though – only 30 minutes.

So don’t miss it! It’s a once-in-a-life-time gig!

Sea Shepherd and Whaling

One of the rants we’ve had a few times here on Rant n Rave Radio is about whaling and countries that keep whaling.

We’ve exposed the lies behind “scientific” whaling and the other weak excuses used to continue this barbaric practice.  And, if you’ve caught those particular rants, you’ll know that Greg and Alex are big fans of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society’s work during the southern hemisphere whalers’ hunt.

So when we heard the Sea Shepherd’s “Steve Irwin” whale hunter vessel was to port in Australia we thought we’d contact them for a gig on the show.

At first we thought we’d get told to bugger off since we’re a small (very small) operation, if you can call it that.  But Greg never gave in and set about finding out what was going and who we had to speak to to get an interview. We explained how the show works and that there’s essentially no censorship; we’d give them the air time to vent their grievances about the ongoing whale slaughter however they wanted to express them. Apparently they thought this was an awesome idea.

Now we’re following up with them to find the exact person, the one with that’s in-the-know, and give them time to vent their spleens about whaling.  We’ll keep everyone up-to-date with how we’re going securing an interview.

Changes and Updates

There’s going to be a series of changes and updates being made to the blog over the next few weeks.  We’ll be adding some new features and updating some areas that have should’ve been updated ages ago.

New widgets will be included and we’re updating the blog template.

You might have seen in the player in the last post new shows. Well if you’ve listened in we haven’t really done much other than to break up the show into two segments “The Agenda” and “Campaigns to Note”.  But we have added a new show to the line up – “The Rant with Alex” on Tuesday nights (8:30pm to 9pm).

Plus the biggest news of all:

This blog will become the official site for Rant n Rave Radio with Blog Talk Radio.

Coming up on Rant n Rave Radio

In between Greg’s rehearsals and shows and my commitments we’ve been able to hammer a new series of shows at the completion The Birthday Party‘s season (read a review here).  And the new series will be based on our new 3 separate show format – The Agenda; Campaigns to Note and; the Australian Weekly Political Wrap (featuring the Minister for Activities un-Australian).

But like we’ve mentioned there will be a couple of shows to keep held over until we come back with the new series. We know you can’t get enough of that ranting n raving stuff, and neither can we so the show has to go on.

To keep the show going catch Alex on the special between-series series “The Rant with Alex” in a 30-minute rant-n-rave-slug-fest on Tuesday nights.
